Xavier Pauchard was responsible for changing the aesthetics of industrial furniture. In 1927 he registered TOLIX as a brand and began creating chairs, stools,  armchairs, and other metal furniture. In 1934, he created the TOLIX metal chair, which is on display in MoMA in New York and the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
